I want a 4 door car the size of a Cruze/Focus, that is rwd with a turbocharged 4cly in the 250-300hp range and a 6 speed manual gear box for around 25k dollars.
Seems like the first company to make something like this would have a real winner on their hands, I realize some older BMWs etc may come close this but they are older now and new stuff is much larger and obviously more expensive.

Subaru STI is pretty damn close if you rip out the front diff.

They do exist, they are just priced at $10,000-15,000 more than you would like. See ATS, 3 series, etc...
Buy used.

I really want that too. Alfa Romeo might have one here in a few years.

1) Convince new car shopper to purchase a BMW 228i.
2) Wait until they want to sell it.
3) Buy a now used BMW 228i for $25k.
4) Hoon.

Because 300 horsepower from a 4-banger takes some serious (read: expensive) doing.

It's the turbo four that I don't agree with, and the six-speed I could take or leave, but the rest of it sounds muy excelente - and also with the exception of four-door, not too badly served by the Mustang...
I think it's mostly the very minimal intersection between turbo4 and rwd enthusiasts, but I could be wrong.

Not for $25k, that's more WRX money than STI money.

Aside from the turbo part, this sort of fits the bill.

It could almost be a parts bin car for most manufacturers.

You can buy an EVO or STI and rip the front shafts out...

Cruze SS. C'mon Chevy, we know you can do it.
The regular Cruze is already a pretty good chassis, my dad has one. Pretty fun to drive.

Frs/BRZ sedan if they build it? Just needs a turbo

FWD

I would rock an AWD Cruze SS. High HP fwd cars just don't do it for me.

The problem is folks that get small cars still ask for lots of space, rwd takes up tons of space.
Second, since such a car doesn't exist at the moment, it would cost tons to develop a new platform, driving up costs.
Third, that's a lot of hp to ask of a 4ycl, so it would need to be beefed up with forged internals, etc., so now it's even more expensive.
The only way I can see it happening is if Ford cuts the Mustang platform, adds 2 doors, and drops in an ecoboost. Even then.......

The 2 Series is coupe only no...?

How about a Hyundai then, they already have the motor and architecture with the Genesis cars.

it exists very much, but for that kind of awesomeness you'll have to buy used and build it. 25k will build a whole lot of what you want. or get an sti, lock the transfer case & remove the front halfshafts.

Oh. Shit. Well you got me there hmm. Ok, do the same for a 328i.
OH BETTER IDEA!
Find a 320i with a manual and get it lightly used. New the 320i with a manny tranny (giggity) should only run $33k. In a year that could drop to $25k or more depending on mileage and with a reflash or proper tune (thinking Dinan) you could boost that 180hp to 240hp.

No 320i stateside :(

Yes there is . It's the new base model 3-series. Same engine as the 328i but with 180hp instead of 240hp.
